    Release Notes for AM/AMM 2.18.1

AirLink Manager (AM) / AirLink Mobility Manager (AMM) 2.18.1 is a minor release of the AirLink Manager platform. This release expands on the support for AirLink OS routers, enabling customers to efficiently manage their AirLink OS fleets through AMM.

AMM 2.18.1 adds new capabilities to the basic AirLink OS router management features needed to start customer trials and prepare for broader adoption.

AMM 2.18.1 also marks the expansion of supported virtual hypervisors for the AMM platform. While the two new hypervisors are supported for new installations, migration tools to move existing deployments onto them are planned for a future AM/AMM release.

This release also includes general security patches and bug fixes.

    1 Release Information

    1.1 Officially Released Versions

AM/AMM 2.18.1 was officially released to General Availability on July 9th, 2026. AMM 2.18.1 and later will support UEFI mode ISO only. Legacy BIOS boot is no longer supported.

    1.2 Platform Support

AM/AMM 2.18.1 has been tested on Dell PowerEdge R650 and PowerEdge R660xs servers and on the following hypervisors.

    • VMWare ESXi 8 and later
    • Nutanix AHV (Acropolis) 10.3.1.2 (Acropolis OS 7.3.1.2) and later
    • Microsoft HyperV in Windows Server 2025 version

    1.3 Browser Support

AMM 2.18.1 has been tested on Google Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Users that attempt to use a browser that is not supported will get a warning and may experience some issues.

    1.4 Network Feature Requirements (DNS)

DNS is now required for AMM and AM for full functionality. In private network environments DNS must be available and the AM/AMM server name must be published and resolvable by the configured DNS. The TTL for the published DNS entries should be set to no longer than the customer’s tolerance for router reconnection to the server in the case of a High Availability failover.

A valid TLS2.0 certificate signed by one of the following supported Certificate Authorities is required for AirLink OS device support. These are the CA’s that are supported by the routers:

    • IdenTrust
    • DigiCert
    • Sectigo
    • GoDaddy
    • GlobalSign
    • Let’s Encrypt
    • Entrust

For more information about the AirLink OS device support, refer to AirLink OS Management Tunnel .

In cases where DNS is not available in a customer’s network, Semtech cannot guarantee that a workaround for the missing DNS functionality can be provided. Some features for some router models may not work without active and accurate DNS resolution.

    1.5 Semtech Router Support

The following table shows the minimum software version needed on the routers to be used with AMM 2.18.1.

AirLink OS 5.3 AirLink OS 6.1.0 MGOS 4.4.2.1 ALEOS 4.16
    XR90 1

    XR80 1

    XR60 1

    RX55 Wi-Fi Plus 1

    RX400

    EX400

    MG90

    RV50X/RV55

    MP (All)

    LX (All)

    1. Full support for updated cellular parameters and available reports is not available in the earlier AirLink OS version.

    2 Key Features and Enhancements

2.1 Add support for RX400 and EX400 Routers

Semtec has recently introduced two new RedCap 5G routers, which are supported in AM/AMM 2.18.1 starting with AirLink OS version 6.1.0.

With expanding feature support for AirLink OS routers, this release introduces the following AMM Reports (requires AirLink OS version 6.1.0 or later):

    • Link Utilization Report
    • Coverage Map Report
    • Coverage Trails Report
    • Gateway Trips Report
    • Trip Replay Report

2.3 Add Support for Additional Hypervisors

AM/AMM now supports two additional hypervisors and has been tested with the following versions:

    • Nutanix AHV 10.3.1.2 (Acropolis OS 7.3.1.2)
    • Microsoft Hyper-V (Windows Server 2025)

These new hypervisors are only supported for new deployments.

2.4 Template scheduling for MGOS and ALEOS Routers

Template scheduling support has been added for MG90 and ALEOS routers in this release. Previously, applying a configuration template to these devices had to be done immediately, with no option to plan or defer the operation. AMM now allows administrators to schedule a specific date and time for template application, making it easier to plan configuration changes during maintenance windows or off-peak hours without requiring manual intervention at the time of deployment.

2.5 New menu and page to connect SSL VPN to support Proxy servers

AM/AMM now provides a UI control to allow a local user to connect the Semtech support tunnel to CPROXY servers. This is one option to support remote diagnostic and repair access for Semtech support staff. The new menu item VPN is located in the Admin > Support menu.

2.6 New menu and page to collect system information for troubleshooting

There is a new Troubleshooting Logs menu item in the Admin > Support menu. Access to this page is controlled by a new user right, which must be assigned to any users who require access.

AMM 2.18.1 adds the ability for AirLink OS software builds to be discovered and automatically downloaded for distribution according to software repository settings on the server.

High Availability (HA) support has been extended to include fleets containing AirLink OS routers, removing a previous limitation that prevented HA configurations from being used in deployments with AirLink OS routers. Support for HA for AirLink OS devices is pursuant to the DNS requirement listed above. Due to the current behavior of AirLink OS, the server DNS must be published with the Time to Live value (TTL, default is 24h) set to the time threshold for AirLink OS router reconnection.

2.9 AMM System Time Changing Rules

AMM system time is fixed to Pacific Daylight Time (PDT,UTC-7) and does not adjust for Daylight Saving Time changes. This means the system clock will remain at UTC-7 year-round, even during the winter months when the local Pacific time zone shifts to Pacific Standard Time (PST, UTC-8). Users in regions that observe Daylight Saving Time should be aware of this when interpreting timestamps in logs, reports, and scheduled events, as there may be a one-hour discrepancy during standard time periods.
