To maintain consistency across your fleet, you can deploy a “golden” configuration that defines the standard settings for all gateways. This process ensures every device starts from a trusted baseline, minimizing errors and simplifying updates.
Note: the “golden” configuration must match the hardware and software versions deployed in the fleet. If multiple hardware types or software versions are in use, a separate golden configuration is required for each combination.
The general process to upload a “golden” configuration to a fleet is as follows:
- Using the AirLink OS UI, configure and test a local AirLink OS router.
- When satisfied with the setup, export the golden configuration as a JSON file.
- Login to the AMM and select the AirLink OS router that matches the required software and hardware.
- Go to Configuration > Deployment > Upload for AirLinkOS
- Specify the JSON file and upload it.
- You will be automatically taken to Configuration > Deployment > Configuration Control. For more information on this feature, refer to Upload for AirLinkOS
- The Status will show as Pending and will transition to Confirmed when AirLink OS router checks in and uploads and applies the new configuration.
- If the status is not Confirmed, then verify the versions of software and hardware and if any manual changes were done to the JSON file.
- Field test the AirLink OS router.
- When satisfied with the field test, repeat from step 3.
It is highly recommended that a fleet is configured in stages, that allow sufficient time between stages to field test the configuration.
